About Logie

Logie Estate House

Moray enjoys a high reputation for the quality of its livestock and the farms at Logie are independent family businesses producing sheep and cattle which go to outlets ranging from the Forres butcher to Marks and Spencer and free range eggs for the local market.

Longhorn CattleIn addition, two of the farms breed pedigree cattle, the Logie Longhorns, Shorthorns and Highlanders which visitors will often see.

Historically the area has been one of the most heavily wooded in Scotland and has a tradition of woodland management stretching back several hundred years. It takes between 50 and 80 years for a tree to mature and for every one we harvest we plant at least one new one.

Timber is a multi use crop - providing income, employment and raw material to its owners and local businesses, locking up carbon while growing and providing the backdrop for a wide variety of leisure activity.

Logie SteadingThe trees you see on the estate have a wide range of uses, from the paper in your morning newspaper to the rafters in the roof of your house but one thing is certain - they are a sustainable and renewable resource.

As well as these traditional activities, in recent years the estate has renovated a redundant farm steading providing premises for businesses promoting local produce and Scottish Craftsmanship.
